Autonomy protagonist at the world championship of wheelchair tennis in Alghero

The BNP World Team Cup Wheelchair, the team world championships of wheelchair tennis, was held in Alghero from 1st to 8th May 2017.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles could not miss this special world-wide event with its Autonomy program that responds to the needs of customers with reduced motor, sensory or intellectual capabilities (or accompanying) to enable them to enjoy cars and thus ensure freedom of movement.

Always close to the disabled athletes of all sports and to the partners of this world championship, FCA has provided some Ducato and Doblò to guarantee the mobility of the participants in the event. In addition, service cars have been provided for all organizers as well as other Ducato and Talento for freight transport. Finally, some special FCA Autonomy models – adapted for the driving and the transportation of disabled people – were exhibited alongside the courts.

The BNP World Team Cup Wheelchair hosted around 400 people including over 250 disabled athletes representing 24 countries, with 42 teams of 4 categories: men (16 teams), women (12 teams), quads and juniors (both with 8 teams).

Italy has participated with 5 athletes: Antonio Cippo, Silviu Culea, Ivan Tratter, Marianna Lauro and Giulia Capocci, a promising new national champion.

Italy was also present in the quad category with Alberto Corradi, Marco Innocenti and Alfredo Di Cosmo.
